read: what im reading now

My night stand has a ridiculous stack of books on it…most of which have been started but not finished yet. I love to read and have been known to finish a book in a few hours (like this or any one of these). While my night stand used to be covered in romance novels and other random fiction books it now is covered with parenting books and I love it that way. Here are a few of the books that friends have highly recommended to me that reside on my night stand…sometimes getting cracked open and sometimes collecting dust. What books are you reading right now? Do you have any parenting books to suggest? Any non-parenting books that are worth a try?

  1. Amy

I, too, have lots of parenting books that I am trying to read between diaper changes and feedings. My favorite, (which will also be a Mother’s Day gift to my Mom), is Attached at the Heart by Barbara Nicholson and Lysa Parker. It gives great information on raising empathetic children and provides lots of research to back up the attachment parenting concept. At the end of each chapter, it lists other books and websites where you can find more info on a particular subject. This book is, and will continue to be, a wonderful parenting resource.

  2. A Gracious Life

The Rules of Parenting by Richard Templar is good. Also, The Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother by Amy Chua is a good read and will prompt you to really ponder on our own parenting way. Tfs!
